Providing an accessible service requires taking into account a 360º vision of accessibility, as was made clear at the round table ‘360º Accessibility: physical, digital and product’, which was held during the Annual Meeting of AIS Self-regulated Entities, Around 2025.

Jessica Malagás, manager of Relway; Breixo Pastoriza, co-founder and director of Accessibility at Glocal Quality Solutions; and Leyre Echevarría, senior director and Head of ESG at CBRE Spain, with María Jesús Conde, head of the Technical Department at Fundación ARS, as moderator, participated in the round table.

Each of these speakers gave their vision of the subject from their specific experience. Thus, Jessica Malagás indicated the advantages of an accessible product; Breixo Pastoriza focused on the characteristics of an accessible website; and Leyre Echevarría spoke from the perspective of the real estate asset.

360º accessibility and sustainability

For us, 360º accessibility means talking about this dimension of sustainability of all the stages of the project, from the purchase, investment, development and operation of the asset,” specified Echevarría. “Accessibility 360º brings together all the phases and all the agents. It is the whole journey of spaces, from the most intimate, private space, to the common, public areas, and here different agents are involved who must contribute to this accessibility solution,” he added.

“Products that are not accessible are not good products.”

For her part, Jéssica Malagás stressed the importance of “designing products so that they are accessible. Products that are not accessible are no good and will tend to disappear”. With this in mind, she believes that “360º accessibility is made up of all the parts: physical, design and product”.

Finally, Breixo Pastoriza explained that “in the digital environment we are talking about functional, understandable design that facilitates navigation and is robust, which means that it works with all the technologies of today, but also those of tomorrow”. “We consume everything digitally, from the moment we wake up, when we communicate, write emails, buy online, etc., digital accessibility, for companies, facilitates the generation of more revenue; having accessible forms, facilitates feedback from our customers,” he said.

It is precisely from the union of accessibility in assets, websites and products that we can begin to talk about accessible service. An elderly person who wants to do the shopping and has no elevator in his or her apartment building may need to do the shopping online, but if the website is not accessible, he or she will have to travel physically. And if, when they get to the supermarket, this environment is not accessible either or the checkout counters are not adapted, they will have problems doing their shopping independently. Thus, a 360º global vision of accessibility allows us to provide services for everyone.
